Tesco has a record of getting fined for violating food safety standards. They received one of the biggest fines ever handed out in the U.K. for violations of food safety laws in 2004. Tesco was even fined as recently as January 2008 after admitting to selling out-of-date food, and was ordered to pay £50,000 (approx $100,000.)
